Notes
- Start at ads.google.com with a Gmail or Google account, and share access so more than one person can manage it.
- Create a new campaign with the website traffic goal and choose a search campaign.
- Skip the advanced options at first and accept Google's default recommendations.
- Uncheck the display network, since this ad is for people searching for churches near me.
- Set location to a radius around your church, larger for rural areas, and pick your language.
- You only pay for clicks; start at about five dollars a day and skip the max cost per click limit.
- Add extensions: site links, service times, and especially a call extension with your phone number.
- Build an ad group with keywords like churches near me or your denomination, using exact or phrase match, not broad match.
- Write headlines (30 characters) and descriptions (90 characters), and put your church name in a headline.
- After publishing, you can pause or end the ad, and check clicks, cost per click, and keywords; make sure your website is mobile friendly and current first.
